Privacy Policy

The following Privacy Policy applies to all apps owned by David Getman, operated under the DG Apps, Inc. name, including but not limited to Do.List, Life Lists and This Week. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, DG Apps, Inc. will be referred to as “DG Apps”.

The Short Version in Plain English

If upon setting up your phone or adjusting your phone’s settings, you already opted into sharing analytic data with Apple, then that means Apple shares some anonymous data with DG Apps. This setting applies to all apps on your phone. DG Apps receives absolutely no personal data about your identity with such data. This means no names, physical addresses, email addresses, device IDs, or other similar info is provided to DG Apps by Apple. The anonymous data provided describes general metrics such as number of users, number of crashes, and other non-user-specific metrics.

DG Apps does use third party analytic platforms to supplement the above. The current platform is Google Analytics and Google Firebase. The data from Google’s tools includes more specific data but still no names, physical addresses, or email addresses. While Google does offer an option to collect analytics that includes an ad identifier, DG Apps opts out of this by using the “FirebaseAnalyticsWithoutAdId” configuration. Example of data that DG Apps does receive includes metrics like:

  • Active user trending

  • OS version and other device info

  • Custom event counts such as “1,000 task added events on May 28th” (data does not include task name, user name, etc)

Google Firebase is also a cloud platform that some apps use for storage of customer data. DG Apps does not use Firebase for app data storage. Most users of DG Apps are using local storage, meaning their data is only stored locally on their phone. Some DG Apps do offer a cloud backup and/or cloud syncing capability. In these cases, no lists, tasks, or other such data are stored in Firebase. DG Apps uses Apple’s iCloud for customer backups and syncing. DG Apps views Apple as one of the most respectful of customer privacy in the world and the right place to safely store customer data.

In 2026, some apps under DG Apps began to offer AI features. These are optional features that users can disable in settings. Where possible, these use the iPhone Apple Intelligence AI to keep data local. For more advanced capabilities, the app often uses the Anthropic or OpenAI cloud models. In these cases, data is being sent to these third party models but in most cases this is still more private than using other AI Chat apps as all learnings about you and your preferences are stored as part of the app on the phone and, if syncing is enabled, in Apple’s cloud, providing more privacy and security. Your data is not used for marketing, ads, or sold to others.

DG Apps was founded and is run by a cybersecurity professional. Customer privacy and security will always be respected. For the avoidance of doubt, let it be stated that DG Apps will not ever seek to collect personal details about a user and will never sell the little analytics data that is collected.

I hope this helps you understand what data is collected and what it’s used for.

The Long Version

This policy covers every app published by DG Apps, Inc. ("my apps"), including Life Lists. By using my apps, you agree to the following.

1. Age. You confirm you are 13 or older. If you are under 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian.

2. Your lists stay yours. Everything you create (lists, tasks, notes, photos, folders, and anything the assistant learns about you) is stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, it is also stored in your own iCloud account, which is managed by Apple. DG Apps never stores your lists or notes on its own servers and cannot read them. If you share a list with someone through iCloud, the people you invite can see and edit it.

3. What DG Apps collects.

  • Usage analytics through Google Firebase Analytics, configured without the advertising identifier. This covers event counts (for example, "a list was created"), app version, and device model, OS version and time zone. It never includes the names or contents of your lists, tasks or messages.

  • Crash and performance reports through Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring, to find and fix problems.

  • An anonymous account ID created by Firebase Authentication. It has no name, email or phone number attached. It's used only to keep each person's AI usage within fair daily limits (see #4).

  • Feedback you choose to send. If you contact me or send feedback, that correspondence is kept on record so I can respond and improve the apps.

4. AI features. AI features are optional. You can turn them off anytime in Settings → AI Settings.

  • Your permission comes first. Before any of your information is sent to an outside AI service, the app shows what is shared and with whom, and asks your permission. You can change that choice anytime in Settings → AI Settings → Outside AI services. Without it, AI runs only on your device, using Apple Intelligence where your device supports it.

  • Anthropic (Claude) writes the AI's answers. With your permission, it receives:

    • what you ask, and photos or files you attach;

    • the lists, notes and folders needed to answer;

    • facts you've chosen to tell the assistant about yourself;

    • your town or city, for local answers (only if you've allowed location access);

    • notes you take with the meeting tool.

    It may search the web to answer you.

  • OpenAI is used only in voice chat. With your permission, it receives recordings of what you say, to turn them into text, and the text of the replies it reads aloud. You can turn this off separately in Settings → AI Settings → Voice chat with OpenAI. The app then uses Apple's speech recognition and voice instead.

  • How it travels:

    • These requests pass through DG Apps' own secure server, hosted on Google Cloud. The server adds the service keys and enforces usage limits.

    • Your content is not stored there. The server keeps only a running daily count of AI usage, tied to the anonymous account ID in #3.

    • Anthropic and OpenAI use what is sent to answer you. Under their terms for business customers, they do not use it to train their models.

    • They may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, under their own privacy policies.

5. Device permissions. My apps only use these if you allow them, and you can change each one in your device's Settings.

  • Location: for local weather, nearby-store suggestions, and local answers. Only your town or city is shared with the AI.

  • Microphone and speech recognition: for dictation and voice chat. Apple's speech recognition runs on your device where supported.

  • Calendars, Reminders and Contacts: read on your device to show your schedule, reminders and people in the app.

  • Health: read on your device to show your health summary. Health data is never sent to DG Apps or to any AI service, and never stored in iCloud by the app.

  • Photos and camera: only the photos you choose to add or attach.

  • Slack (optional): if you connect Slack with your own token, the app talks to Slack directly from your device to find messages that may need a reply. Nothing passes through DG Apps.

6. Who processes data on my behalf.

  • Apple: iCloud storage and sync, Apple Intelligence, speech, weather, maps and purchases.

  • Google Firebase: analytics, crash reports, performance, anonymous accounts, and the secure AI server.

  • Anthropic: AI answers, with your permission.

  • OpenAI: voice chat, with your permission.

  • Slack: only if you connect it.

7. What DG Apps never does. I never sell your data, never use it for advertising or marketing, and never collect the advertising identifier. Analytics are used only to understand how the apps are used and to improve them.

8. Your choices.

  • Turn AI off, withdraw AI permission, or turn off OpenAI voice in Settings → AI Settings.

  • Change device permissions in your device's Settings.

  • Delete your data by deleting the app. Delete what's in iCloud from your device's Settings → [your name] → iCloud.

  • To ask about or remove the anonymous usage record tied to your device, contact me through the Support page.

9. Security. I'm a cybersecurity professional and take security seriously. Even so, no device, network or storage is 100% secure, so the security of data cannot be completely guaranteed. My apps are not password protected; anyone with access to your unlocked device can see your data in the app.

10. Purchases. If you buy anything in my apps, Apple handles the payment. I receive only what Apple provides to confirm the purchase.

11. Change of ownership. If DG Apps is sold, merged or otherwise changes control, the limited data described in #3 may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to honor this policy.

12. Changes to this policy. If what the apps share changes, I'll update this page. If a change involves a new AI service or a new kind of data, the app will ask your permission again.

If you're not satisfied with this Privacy Policy, please don't use any app owned by DG Apps, Inc.
